More sad news in the games industry as the entire staff of Annapurna Interactive resigned this month following a dispute with its owner.

Annapurna Interactive President Nathan Gary and his team had been in negation with Megan Ellison, the daughter of billionaire Larry Ellison, for some time now to spin the video-game division off into a entirely independent entity. When all of a sudden Ellison pulled out of the negotiations leading to Nathan Gary and other executives resignation almost on the spot they were then followed by around two dozen other staffers.

“A spokesperson for Annapurna confirmed that it had explored a spinoff and said the parties failed to reach an agreement, which led to the resignations.”

“The spokesperson said that all existing games and projects will remain under Annapurna.”

This all feels very sad and just another stain on the video game industry after what has been a very hard year for everyone in it from studio closures to mass lay off’s. Lets keep our fingers crossed that the industry can get back to a health state and these developers can get back to doing what they love making games in a safe and health environment.
