Virtuos, a renowned video game development studio, is reportedly working on an unannounced remake using Unreal Engine 5. This exciting news has generated significant interest among gamers, as Virtuos is known for its expertise in game remakes, porting, and supporting development on a wide range of high-profile titles.

First spotted by X (Twitter) user Timur222, the information comes from Oleksii Moskovchenko‘s LinkedIn page, who is a Technical Art Director at Virtuos. His description of his current work simply reads, “unannounced UE5 PS5/XSX/PC remake.”

In December 2024, several rumours began to circulate that Virtuos would be developing a The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake on Unreal Engine 5, this remake isn’t something that has just come out of nowhere either a remake or remaster of Oblivion first popped up during the FTC investigation into Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, which the game was expected to release during the fiscal year of 2022 which they clearly did not hit but that could be due to the fact that the game may have gone form a remaster to a full remake leading to the studio requiring more time.

Now to my juicy prediction I do believe that this remake exits and all the leaks would have us believe that the remake will drop in the first half of the year so there isn’t much time for an announcement and marketing so where do we see it. My prediction is this the mystery game to be shown at the recently announced Xbox Developer_Direct is the The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake. Now I could be way off with this but it all just seems to fit.

If this turns out to be nothing more than a dream Virtuos’ history suggests the project could be a classic title being revitalized with modern technology. The studio has previously worked on successful remakes and remasters, such as the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster and Dark Souls Remastered, indicating that their expertise will ensure a high-quality experience for fans of the original games.
