Elden Ring: Nightreign, the upcoming cooperative action role-playing game from FromSoftware, is currently designed for solo play or teams of three players. Director Junya Ishizaki has explained that this three-player setup was chosen to balance the game’s difficulty and pacing.
“Regarding having just two players, not three players or solo, it is something we are considering, but it is currently not in the game at the moment,” he said.
However, FromSoftware is considering the addition of a two-player mode in the future. Ishizaki mentioned that while this feature is not available at launch, the team is exploring the possibility of implementing it later.

For now, players can enjoy Elden Ring: Nightreign solo or with a group of three. The game is scheduled for release on May 30, 2025, and will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
