James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios, has confirmed discussions with NetherRealm Studios and Rocksteady Studios regarding future DC video game projects. These talks aim to align upcoming games with the broader DC Universe (DCU) across film, television, and animation. Gunn mentioned that the first DCU game is expected to release in “a couple of years.”
NetherRealm Studios is renowned for the “Mortal Kombat” series and the “Injustice” games, while Rocksteady Studios is acclaimed for the “Batman: Arkham” series. Their involvement suggests a strategic approach to integrating DC’s gaming experiences with its cinematic and television narratives.

Monolith Productions, renowned for the “Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor” series, is developing a Wonder Woman game featuring an original story set in the DC Universe. Players will assume the role of Diana of Themyscira, aiming to unite her Amazon family with the modern world. The game is expected to incorporate Monolith’s Nemesis system, known for creating dynamic and personalized enemy interactions.

However, the project has encountered significant challenges. In early 2024, the game underwent a reboot and a change in direction, leading to substantial delays. Reports indicate that over $100 million has been invested, yet the game remains in the early stages of development, with a release still years away, if it reaches the market at all.
This initiative reflects DC Studios’ commitment to creating a cohesive and immersive experience for fans across various media platforms. Here’s hoping that we actually see some of theses games come to pass
