Respawn Has Seemingly Cancelled Its Unannounced FPS Multiplayer Game

NOOOOO

Respawn Entertainment has reportedly canceled an unannounced multiplayer first-person shooter (FPS) project. This decision comes after former production coordinator Emilee Evans announced on LinkedIn that the “incubation project” she had been part of for the past year was terminated.

The cancellation of this new game at Respawn follows the cancellation of the studio’s Star Wars Mandalorian game in early 2024. When that was cancelled, it was part of restructuring at EA that saw 5% of its staff let go.

Details about the game remain scarce, but job postings from late 2020 suggest it was a new intellectual property (IP) in the early stages of development.

Notably, this cancellation follows the abrupt shutdown of “Concord,” a live-service game by FireWalk Studios, highlighting the industry’s challenging landscape for new multiplayer titles.
