According to recent reports, Microsoft is planning to release its next-generation Xbox console in 2027. Windows Central’s Jez Corden indicates that the new hardware is “fully greenlit all the way up to CEO Satya Nadella,” with a launch targeted for that year.

The upcoming console is expected to be more PC-like than traditional consoles, described as “a PC in essence with a TV-friendly shell.” This design aims to provide a familiar environment for developers, facilitating game optimization.

In addition to the console, Microsoft is reportedly collaborating with an original equipment manufacturer to release an Xbox-branded handheld gaming device, codenamed “Keenan,” later in 2025. This handheld is said to feature recognizable Xbox design elements, including an official Xbox guide button. There are also plans for “several” new controllers.

These developments suggest Microsoft’s commitment to expanding its gaming hardware line-up, blending traditional consoles with portable devices to enhance the gaming experience across platforms.
