God of War 20th anniversary merch & God of War Ragnarok Dark Odyssey Collection in-game update announced

A Lot to Look Forward to

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the God of War series, Santa Monica Studio and PlayStation are introducing a series of in-game and merchandise offerings.

Dark Odyssey Collection – In-Game Update for God of War Ragnarök

On March 20, a free update will be released for God of War Ragnarök, introducing the Dark Odyssey collection. This collection features armor, appearances, and attachments inspired by the original black and gold theme from God of War II, available to all players at no additional cost. Players can access these items from any Lost Items chest in the base game or automatically while in Valhalla.

20th Anniversary Merchandise

A variety of merchandise is being launched to celebrate the milestone:

  • Laced Vinyls 20th Anniversary Collection: A 13-disc Limited Edition vinyl set encompassing soundtracks from God of War (2005) to God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla (2023). Pre-orders open on March 20.
  • Insert Coin 20th Anniversary T-Shirt Collection: New t-shirts highlighting the nine games released over the past twenty years, each featuring a metallic, golden finish. Pre-orders begin on March 21.
  • 20th Anniversary Retrospective Book Box Set: A two-volume hardcover collection with artwork, behind-the-scenes materials, and interviews with developers, covering both the Greek and Norse sagas. Pre-orders start on March 17.
  • Jörmungandr Plush: A 67-inch plush of the World Serpent, featuring a magnetized tongue that holds a removable Leviathan Axe.

These items are available through various partners, including Laced Records, Insert Coin, and Cook and Becker.

20th Anniversary Sales

  • PlayStation Plus: God of War Ragnarök is available now on the Game Catalog for PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra Members at no additional cost. God of War (2018) is also included, and God of War III Remastered is part of the Classics Catalog for Premium Members.
  • PC: Both God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök are on sale until March 20 on Steam and the Epic Game Store.

These initiatives reflect Santa Monica Studio’s gratitude to fans for their support over the past two decades. But to be honest I am really hoping that we get that God of War Remaster we reported on last month you can read about that here.
