Saber Interactive’s Chief Creative Officer, Tim Willits, recently indicated that the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake is still under development. Responding to inquiries about the project’s status, Willits stated, “Now we’re focused on development. We’re looking forward to sharing more when the time is right.”

This comment offers reassurance to fans, especially considering the project’s tumultuous history. Originally announced in 2021, the remake has experienced several delays and changes in development teams. Aspyr Media, the initial developer, handed over the project to Saber Interactive due to reported challenges.
Additionally, in September 2024, reports suggested that Disney executives were dissatisfied with early demonstrations, leading to further development pauses and reassessments.

Despite these setbacks, Saber Interactive has consistently maintained that the KOTOR remake remains active. In April 2024, CEO Matthew Karch affirmed that the project was “alive and well,” and Willits’ recent comments further support this stance.
While no specific release date has been provided, Willits’ remarks suggest that the development of the KOTOR remake continues, with more information to be shared when appropriate.
