New God of War PS5 Game Returns to Greece This Year Rumours Suggest

More Rumours

Recent rumours suggest that Sony is preparing to release a new God of War title for the PS5 later this year, returning the series to its Greek mythology roots. This information comes from industry insider Jeff Grubb, who indicates that the project is a side-story rather than a remastered collection of earlier games.

In a series of Bluesky posts, he states there’s “still a Greek God of War thing coming out this year, but it’s not a remaster collection.

OK. Everyone keeps asking about this, so I've tried to find out more: There's still a Greek God of War thing coming out this year, but it's not a remaster collection. It's a new side-story project.

Grubb was one of the sources suggesting a remastered collection of the original God of War games might be confirmed around the time of the series’ 20th anniversary but he’s now stated he “was never told about a remaster collection”.

I was never told about a Remaster collection, but I asked a source about the rumors (that I saw were focused on a collection) and they told me that nothing God of War would happen at the State of Play but something could show up at the anniversary.

While official details about the rumoured Greek-themed God of War project remain unconfirmed it would be cool to see Kratos go back to his roots but for now we will just have to wait and see.
