Switch 2 releasing in June with a 3-phase strategy approach for game releases

I can’t wait for this thing

According to Insider Gaming Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2 is reportedly slated for a June 2025 release, accompanied by a structured three-phase game launch strategy:

  1. Phase 1 (Launch Period): The initial phase will focus on first-party titles developed by Nintendo. Notably, a new Mario Kart game is expected to headline this lineup.
  2. Phase 2 (October-November 2025): This phase will introduce games from third-party developers. These developers are anticipated to receive Switch 2 development kits in June, allowing them time to prepare their titles for release in this window.
  3. Phase 3 (Holiday Season 2025): The final phase aims to bolster the holiday season with a robust selection of games, reminiscent of Nintendo’s successful strategy during the 2017 launch of titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

These phases are designed to maintain a steady flow of content, ensuring both immediate and sustained engagement with the Switch 2 throughout its inaugural year.

select media/creators will be attending Switch 2 hands-on next week for console and launch games

According to various gaming insiders, Nintendo is also planning a Nintendo Direct later this week, but its contents is currently unknown.
