Nintendo initially considered naming its upcoming console the “Super Nintendo Switch.” However, the company decided against this title to avoid confusion, as the Switch 2 is fully compatible with existing Switch games, unlike the transition from the NES to the Super NES. Instead, they opted for the straightforward name “Nintendo Switch 2” to clearly communicate its role as the latest system in the Switch family.
