FromSoftware shares first details on The Duskbloods – was originally planned for Nintendo Switch 1

More Info

FromSoftware has recently unveiled The Duskbloods, an upcoming multiplayer action game exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2, scheduled for release in 2026. Initially, the game was intended for the original Nintendo Switch. However, as development progressed, Nintendo introduced the idea of adapting the game for the Switch 2 platform. The enhanced hardware and online capabilities of Switch 2 enabled FromSoftware to better realize their original vision for the multiplayer title.

Directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, The Duskbloods is a Player vs. Player vs. Environment (PvPvE) action game where up to eight players embody the “Sang du Crépuscule” (Blood of Dusk), warriors endowed with superhuman abilities due to their unique blood. Players compete to obtain the “First Blood” amidst a backdrop of humanity’s twilight.

The game features a blend of gothic and steampunk aesthetics, drawing comparisons to FromSoftware’s acclaimed title, Bloodborne. However, due to Sony’s rights to the original IP, The Duskbloods is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2.

In a recent interview, Miyazaki addressed fan concerns about the game’s multiplayer focus, emphasizing that this does not signify a departure from FromSoftware’s commitment to single-player experiences. He reassured fans that the studio will continue to develop single-player games that maintain its characteristic style.
