Mafia: The Old Country Release Date Revealed on Steam

Mafia: The Old Country Gets August 2025 Release Date on Steam

2K and developer Hangar 13 have unofficially revealed the release date for Mafia: The Old Country the prequel to the iconic Mafia series. The game is now set to launch on August 8, 2025, according to a newly updated listing on Steam.

Mafia: The Old Country will take players back to the early 1900s, deep into the heart of Sicily, where organized crime was just beginning to take shape. Unlike its predecessors, this installment dives into the origins of the Cosa Nostra and follows the rise of Enzo Favara, a young man caught in the violent web of loyalty, power, and betrayal. The narrative promises a fresh take on the franchise’s signature blend of cinematic storytelling and open-world exploration.

The official Steam page offers a few tantalizing details: a gritty third-person action-adventure experience, a historically grounded world, and gameplay that combines brutal combat with deep role-playing elements. While specific gameplay footage has yet to be released, Hangar 13 has previously hinted at a rebuilt engine and more dynamic environments, leveraging current-gen hardware for a smoother and more immersive experience.

“We’re going back to where it all started,” said a representative from Hangar 13 in an earlier press statement. “This is a story of family, honor, and legacy — a Mafia game unlike any before it.”

Mafia: The Old Country will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Preorder’s and wishlisting are now live on Steam.
