EA and Lucasfilm Games have officially lifted the curtain on Star Wars: Zero Company, a brand-new single-player, turn-based tactics game set during the final days of the Clone Wars. Revealed during Star Wars Celebration Japan, the game comes from the team at Bit Reactor, with Respawn Entertainment co-developing.
Here’s everything we know so far.
A Tactical Star Wars Experience
Star Wars: Zero Company introduces players to a gritty, squad-based experience reminiscent of XCOM, but set firmly in the Star Wars universe. You’ll step into the boots of “Hawks,” a battle-hardened former Republic officer leading an elite squad known only as Zero Company.
The game leans heavily into tactical decision-making. Expect classic genre mechanics like overwatch, flanking, suppression fire, and hit percentages—all wrapped in stylized visuals and cinematic flair. Gameplay shown in the reveal trailer offers a first glimpse at isometric combat maps featuring urban ruins, Republic bases, and Separatist installations.
Cinematic Reveal Trailer and Screenshots
The debut trailer dropped alongside a batch of in-engine screenshots, showcasing the tone and atmosphere of Zero Company. The footage hints at darker themes—loss, betrayal, and the moral grey areas of the war’s final stretch. Clone troopers, Mandalorians, droids, and even Jedi glimpses are scattered throughout.
The game’s art direction blends stylized realism with battle-worn detail, staying true to the Clone Wars era while bringing something fresh to the table.
“This is the Star Wars tactical game fans have been asking for,” said Bit Reactor’s Creative Director in a post-panel interview. “You’ll care about every decision you make, because your squad’s survival depends on it.”
Confirmed Platforms and Release Window
Star Wars: Zero Company is scheduled to launch in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
No word yet on a specific release date or whether there will be early access or betas, but given the timeline, more updates are expected later this year—possibly during Summer Game Fest or EA Play Livestream.
My Take
From what’s been revealed, Star Wars: Zero Company has serious potential. The combination of trusted talent from Bit Reactor (a studio formed by XCOM veterans) and Respawn’s Star Wars pedigree (Jedi: Survivor, Fallen Order) is already generating buzz.
This could be the start of a new tactical sub-franchise within Star Wars—and if the mechanics stick the landing, it might just rival the best in the genre.
