Sucker Punch Productions has officially announced that Ghost of Yōtei, the spiritual successor to Ghost of Tsushima, will release exclusively on PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025. The announcement was made via the PlayStation Blog, accompanied by a new trailer titled “The Onryō’s List,” which offers a deeper look at the game’s narrative and gameplay enhancements.
A New Ghost Rises
Set in 1603 in the Ezo region (modern-day Hokkaido), Ghost of Yōtei introduces players to Atsu, a survivor turned assassin seeking vengeance against the Yōtei Six—a group of outlaws who destroyed her family and left her for dead. Armed with the very katana that once pinned her to a burning ginkgo tree, Atsu embarks on a journey of retribution that evolves into a deeper quest for purpose.
Evolved Open-World Exploration
Building upon the foundations of Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei offers an expanded open-world experience. Players will have the freedom to choose the order in which they confront the Yōtei Six, each with unique territories and challenges. The game also introduces new weapons, allies, and a gameplay mechanic that allows players to glimpse into Atsu’s past, providing context to her motivations and the world around her.
Collector’s and Digital Deluxe Editions
Alongside the standard edition, Sucker Punch has unveiled two special editions:
- Collector’s Edition: Includes a physical copy of the game, a detailed map of Ezo, a replica of Atsu’s katana, an art book, and exclusive in-game items.
- Digital Deluxe Edition: Offers early access to a unique armor set, additional skill points, and a digital art book and soundtrack.
Pre-orders for all editions are now available through the PlayStation Store and select retailers.
