Development on Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 appears to be well underway, with multiple sources confirming that voice recording for the final chapter in the trilogy has officially started.
Cloud Strife Actor Returns to the Booth
Cody Christian, who voices Cloud Strife in the Remake series, recently confirmed via a now-deleted Instagram story that he’s “back in the booth” working on “a special project.” While he didn’t mention Final Fantasy by name, fans quickly connected the dots—and with Square Enix having previously stated that Part 3 would begin voice work in 2025, the timing adds up.
Christian’s involvement heavily implies that Remake Part 3 has entered one of its key production phases. Voiceover is traditionally done once scripts and narrative beats are locked in, meaning the main story could already be finalized.

Nomura and Kitase’s Timeline Holding Steady
Creative director Tetsuya Nomura previously revealed that the team had completed the story for the final entry. At the time, Nomura said voice recording would start “soon,” and producer Yoshinori Kitase followed up with a commitment to wrap development within three years—mirroring the turnaround between Remake and Rebirth.
If that internal schedule holds, Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 would likely target a 2027 release, as originally reported by NME and echoed in investor calls. That timeline now seems increasingly feasible.
New Narrative Elements Incoming
Nomura also teased that the final installment would contain “something very important” that wasn’t part of the original 1997 release. That mysterious addition has sparked rampant speculation among the fanbase, especially after Rebirth introduced significant divergences from the original continuity.
While it remains to be seen whether Part 3 will lean more into the meta-narrative twist set up by the previous entries, the inclusion of unseen story content appears all but confirmed.
Returning Cast Expected
Although an official cast list has not been published, the full principal voice cast from the previous two games is expected to return, including:
- Cody Christian – Cloud Strife
- Britt Baron – Tifa Lockhart
- Briana White – Aerith Gainsborough
- John Eric Bentley – Barret Wallace
- Tyler Hoechlin – Sephiroth
- Erica Lindbeck – Jessie Rasberry
- Max Mittelman – Red XIII

Square Enix has not issued a formal statement about the recording process, but insiders suggest the bulk of the script has already been distributed to voice talent, with recording sessions now ongoing through mid-2025.
With Final Fantasy VII Rebirth still fresh in the minds of players and Part 3 now in active development, all eyes are on Square Enix’s next moves. Whether or not the publisher will provide a teaser or working title at a summer event like Summer Game Fest remains to be seen.
For now, the confirmation that voice acting is underway offers a clear signal that Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is moving full speed ahead toward its 2027 finish line.
