OVERWATCH 2 x STREET FIGHTER 6 COLLABORATION OFFICIALLY REVEALED

RELEASE DATE, SKINS, AND DETAILS

In a surprise crossover that few saw coming but many will celebrate, Blizzard Entertainment has officially announced an Overwatch 2 x Street Fighter 6 collaboration, bringing together two iconic franchises in a limited-time event launching May 20, 2025.

The news was revealed just ahead of Evo Japan 2025, perfectly timed to energize both the fighting game and hero shooter communities. This crossover marks the latest in a string of high-profile Overwatch 2 collaborations, following recent tie-ins with Avatar: The Last Airbender, Gundam, and Transformers.

Eight Street Fighter-Themed Skins Incoming

The Overwatch 2 x Street Fighter 6 event will introduce eight premium skins, reimagining Overwatch heroes as Street Fighter legends. These aren’t reworks of gameplay mechanics but are purely cosmetic skins — though with high-quality visual flair faithful to both franchises. Here’s the full list of confirmed skins:

  • Kiriko as Juri
  • Hanzo as Ryu
  • Juno as Chun-Li
  • Widowmaker as Cammy
  • Soldier: 76 as Guile
  • Sigma as M. Bison
  • Winston as Blanka
  • Zenyatta as Dhalsim

Each skin appears to be a full-body, high-detail crossover, with Blizzard emphasizing that the designs are “faithful cosplay tributes” to Capcom’s original characters. No gameplay changes are expected — these are visual-only skins that keep the original heroes’ abilities intact.

Event Details and Pricing

The Street Fighter collaboration will go live May 20 as part of Overwatch 2’s Season 16 mid-season update. It will coincide with Evo Japan 2025, where Capcom and Blizzard are expected to further promote the crossover.

Though Blizzard has not officially confirmed pricing, previous Overwatch 2 collabs give us a strong idea of what to expect. Individual legendary skins are typically priced at 2,800 Overwatch Coins (~$42 to $45 AUD), with bundles hovering around 5,900 Coins (~$88.50 AUD). Expect the Street Fighter skins to be similarly priced, possibly with themed emotes, highlight intros, and profile items included in bundles.

Leaks from dataminers prior to the official announcement had suggested a Street Fighter crossover, but the scale of the collab — with eight skins — has exceeded expectations.

Not the First (and Not the Last)

Blizzard has been aggressively pursuing IP collaborations to boost interest in Overwatch 2. Recent months have seen tie-ins with globally recognized brands, helping the live-service shooter maintain cultural momentum amidst fierce competition.

From a business standpoint, this strategy seems to be working. According to Blizzard’s Q1 2025 financial report, Overwatch 2 has seen increased engagement around every crossover event. With Capcom’s Street Fighter 6 still thriving in the competitive scene nearly two years after launch, this crossover makes strategic sense for both publishers.

The Future of Crossovers?

If fan reactions are positive — and based on social media buzz, they already are — expect more collaborations to follow. With franchises like One Piece, Dragon Ball, and even Final Fantasy often rumored, Blizzard is clearly not done exploring pop culture synergies.

For now, though, fans can look forward to decking out their favourite Overwatch heroes in legendary Street Fighter gear starting May 20.
