Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Sells 3 Million Copies in 3 Months; Original Surpasses 10 Million

Warhorse’s historical RPG series breaks records and proves realism can sell.

Warhorse Studios’ medieval RPG franchise is celebrating major milestones today, as Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has officially surpassed 3 million copies sold within just three months of launch. At the same time, the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance has now crossed the 10 million units sold mark, solidifying its place as one of the most successful historical RPGs of the last decade.

A Franchise on the Rise

Released in February 2025, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II builds on the ambitious systems and narrative-driven gameplay of its predecessor with a larger map, refined combat mechanics, and fully voiced story content. According to publisher Deep Silver and developer Warhorse Studios, the sequel’s strong launch has exceeded internal expectations.

“Reaching 3 million copies sold in such a short time is a huge moment for us,” said Warhorse Studios CEO Martin Frývaldský in a press release. “We’ve always believed in the potential of historically grounded RPGs, and this community has proven there’s a real demand for deep, immersive storytelling rooted in reality.”

The studio attributes part of the sequel’s early success to strong word-of-mouth, positive critical reception, and a much more polished launch compared to the original 2018 game. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is currently available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

The Original’s Long Road to 10 Million

Meanwhile, the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance, which launched in February 2018 after a successful Kickstarter campaign, has now surpassed 10 million copies sold worldwide. The title began life as something of a niche curiosity—a hardcore, no-magic medieval RPG with punishing combat and an emphasis on historical authenticity—but eventually found a dedicated fanbase.

Despite a rocky launch filled with bugs and performance issues, Warhorse continued to patch and support the game post-release, rolling out quality-of-life updates, expansions like From the Ashes and A Woman’s Lot, and supporting modding tools that kept the community engaged.

Over time, the game became a sleeper hit—frequently appearing in digital storefront sales, subscription services like Xbox Game Pass, and enjoying a resurgence thanks to content creators highlighting its unique mechanics and historical accuracy.

What’s Next for Warhorse?

With both titles now commercial successes, all eyes are on what’s next for Warhorse Studios. The developer has confirmed that Kingdom Come: Deliverance II will receive post-launch support, including both free updates and paid expansions throughout 2025 and 2026. While specific details remain under wraps, Frývaldský teased that the team is already “laying the groundwork” for potential future projects.

“We’re thrilled to see how far Kingdom Come has come,” he said. “This is just the beginning.”
