Everything Announced at the June 2025 PlayStation State of Play

Remakes, revivals, and a Marvel fighting game—PlayStation’s June showcase delivered the goods.

PlayStation’s June 2025 State of Play didn’t waste a second. Over the course of a tight 50-minute broadcast, Sony rattled off one announcement after another, mixing heavy-hitter reveals, nostalgic remasters, and a few welcome surprises along the way. Whether you were in it for JRPGs, fighters, indies, or just waiting for Kojima to show up uninvited (spoiler: he didn’t), there was something for everyone.

Here’s everything announced at the show.

Lumines Arise

Lumines Arise is the newly announced installment in the acclaimed Lumines puzzle series, set to launch in Fall 2025 exclusively for PlayStation 5. Developed by Enhance the studio behind Tetris Effect this title promises to deliver a “synesthetic sensory wonderland,” blending rhythmic puzzle gameplay with immersive audio-visual experiences.

Pragmata

Capcom reintroduced Pragmata, its long-anticipated sci-fi action-adventure title, confirming a new release window of 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This marks the game’s first major update since its indefinite delay in 2023.

Romeo is a Dead Man 

Grasshopper Manufacture unveiled their latest project, Romeo is a Dead Man, slated for release on PlayStation 5 in 2026. The announcement was made by the studio’s founder, Goichi Suda, known as Suda51, marking a return to his signature blend of stylized action and surreal storytelling.

Silent Hill f

Konami unveiled a new gameplay trailer for Silent Hill f, confirming its release date as September 25, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement

ArtPlay and 505 Games unveiled Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement, a new installment in the Bloodstained series, set to release in 2026 for PlayStation 5.

The Scarlet Engagement serves as a prequel to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, introducing players to a new protagonist, Leo, and the Black Wolves, as they prepare to storm the cursed Ethereal Castle and confront a rising darkness.

Digimon Story Time Stranger

Bandai Namco unveiled a new trailer for Digimon Story: Time Stranger, confirming its release date as October 3, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

In Time Stranger, players assume the role of an agent from a secret organization investigating the mysterious collapse of the world. The narrative involves time travel, with the protagonist journeying back to a version of Shinjuku from eight years prior. The game explores the deep bond between humans and Digimon across both the human world and the Digital World, known as Iliad.

Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles

Square Enix officially announced Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, a comprehensive remaster of the 1997 classic strategy RPG. The game is scheduled for release on September 30, 2025, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.


Baby Steps

Baby Steps is a unique physics-based adventure game developed by Gabe Cuzzillo, Bennett Foddy, and Maxi Boch—the creators behind Ape Out and Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy. And is set to release on September 8, 2025, for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam .

Hirogami

Hirogami, an origami-inspired 3D action platformer, was announced for PlayStation 5, with a release date set for September 3, 2025. This marks the game’s debut on PlayStation platforms, alongside its previously announced PC release via Steam.

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound returns to the franchise’s 8-bit roots, offering a fast-paced, skill-demanding experience reminiscent of the original Ninja Gaiden games. Players control Kenji Mozu, a young ninja from Hayabusa Village, who must defend his home in Ryu Hayabusa’s absence. The game introduces Kumori, a skilled assassin from the Black Spider Clan, as a second playable character. The duo’s interconnected stories unfold as they combat a new demonic threat. The game is set to release on July 31, 2025, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam .

Cairn

Cairn, a survival-climbing adventure game developed by The Game Bakers, was announced for PlayStation 5 and PC. The game is set to release on November 5, 2025. A playable demo is currently available on Steam and PlayStation 5 .

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection was announced, a comprehensive compilation of classic Mortal Kombat games developed by Digital Eclipse in collaboration with NetherRealm Studios. This collection is set to release later this year for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

Project Defiant

PlayStation unveiled Project Defiant, its first official wireless arcade fight stick designed for PlayStation 5 and PC. This announcement marks a significant step into the competitive gaming hardware market for Sony.

Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater

Konami unveiled a new trailer for Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater, confirming its release date as August 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Nioh 3 

eam Ninja officially announced Nioh 3, the next installment in the acclaimed action RPG series. The game is slated for release in early 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PC. A free demo is available now on the PlayStation Store, but only until June 18, 2025 .

Nioh 3 continues the series’ signature blend of fast-paced combat and Japanese mythology, set during the Sengoku period. Players assume the role of a new protagonist on a quest to become the next Shogun, battling yokai and rival factions along the way .

Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow

A new entry in the Thief series was announced: Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow. This marks the franchise’s return after 11 years, bringing its signature stealth gameplay to PlayStation VR2 later this year.

Players step into the shoes of Magpie, a young orphaned thief navigating the treacherous streets of a city ruled by the tyrant Lord Ulysses Northcrest. The story unfolds as Magpie discovers a mysterious artifact that holds a legacy from the past.

Tides of Tomorrow

Tides of Tomorrow, an innovative multiplayer narrative adventure, was announced. Developed by DigixArt, the creators of Road 96, this game introduces a unique asynchronous storytelling experience set on the oceanic planet of Elynd.

Astro bot

Team Asobi announced 5 new challenge levels coming to the game as well as an updated version of the Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense Wireless Controller, set to release later this year. This new iteration builds upon the original design, introducing a “joyful twist” to the touchpad, though specific details remain under wraps .

Sea of Remnants

Sea of Remnants was unveiled as a vibrant new pirate-themed RPG developed by Joker Studio and published by NetEase Games. Set to release in 2026, the game will be available on PlayStation 5, Windows PC.

Sea of Remnants immerses players in a whimsical yet perilous oceanic world. You assume the role of a memory-lost sailor embarking on a journey across a cursed sea. Joined by a mysterious girl, you’ll navigate this expansive world, uncovering treasures, battling mythical creatures, and forging alliances. The narrative unfolds as you seek to reclaim lost memories and confront the enigmatic forces of the sea.

Sword of the Sea

Sword of the Sea, the latest atmospheric adventure from Giant Squid, was featured with a confirmed release date of August 19, 2025, for PlayStation 5 and Windows PC .

Sword of the Sea is set in the Necropolis, a vast, desolate realm where the terrain flows in constant waves. Players control the Wraith, a resurrected being on a quest to unveil a lost ocean teeming with life. The journey involves surfing across surreal landscapes using a Hoversword—a unique blend of snowboard, skateboard, and hoverboard—that allows for high-speed movement and aerial maneuvers .

007 First Light

IO Interactive unveiled the debut trailer for 007 First Light, their upcoming James Bond game. Set for release in 2026, the game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 .

007 First Light serves as an origin story for James Bond, depicting his early days as a young, resourceful, and sometimes reckless recruit in MI6’s training program. The narrative follows Bond’s mission to track down the missing agent 009, a task that, upon successful completion, earns him his “00” status .

Ghost of Yotei

Ghost of Yōtei State of Play coming July 2025 Get ready for Sucker Punch to guide you through an extended look at the new open-world adventure. The show will be focused entirely on Ghost of Yōtei, coming to PS5 on October 2. You’ll get an extended look at new and evolved gameplay mechanics, including exploration, combat, and much more.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls was unveiled—a dynamic 4v4 tag-team fighter developed by Arc System Works, renowned for titles like Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball FighterZ. Set for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Windows PC, the game introduces a fresh direction for Marvel’s fighting game strategy .

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls reimagines iconic Marvel characters with an anime-inspired aesthetic, featuring stylized visuals and over-the-top combat sequences. The game allows players to assemble teams of four heroes or villains, each with unique abilities, engaging in fast-paced, strategic battles .

It was a strong showing from Sony. No jaw-dropping first-party exclusives, but a buffet of high-quality games many of which are releasing in just a few months. Between Final Fantasy Tactics, Nioh 3, and Marvel Tōkon, strategy and fighting game fans ate good, while MGS Delta and Silent Hill f made the case for Konami’s redemption arc.
