High On Life 2 Announced for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC

Get ready to reload the nonsense.

Squanch Games is back in action. During the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, the studio officially announced High On Life 2, a direct sequel to the bizarre and beloved 2022 sci-fi shooter. Launching in winter 2025, the game is headed to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with day one availability on Xbox Game Pass.

This time, it’s louder, weirder, and packed with even more unhinged alien chatter.

The Return of the Galaxy’s Most Talkative Arsenal

In High On Life 2, players will once again step into the role of a bounty hunter navigating an absurd alien world with a collection of sentient, foul-mouthed firearms. The debut trailer teased frantic first-person combat, slick movement including new skateboarding mechanics and a whole arsenal of new weapons with plenty to say.

Among the new tools of destruction are a flamethrower-wielding lizard, a shotgun with separation anxiety, and a pistol that warps reality itself. Each weapon retains the comedic personality of the original game, but with even more voice talent and dialogue variety promised this time around.

Bigger, Wilder, and More Accessible

Unlike its predecessor, which launched as a console exclusive for Xbox, High On Life 2 is coming to all major platforms right out of the gate. That means PlayStation fans are finally getting a front-row seat to the madness and yes, it will still be included on Game Pass at launch for subscribers.

The game appears to build upon the strengths of the original, expanding environments, increasing mission variety, and deepening player movement options. Footage shows the protagonist grinding rails, dodging energy blasts, and diving into gravity defying firefights with an upgraded UI and more polished visuals.

Squanch Games Moves Forward Without Roiland

High On Life 2 is the first major Squanch Games release developed without Justin Roiland, who co-created the original and served as one of its key voice actors and creative leads. Roiland resigned from the company in 2023 following serious legal allegations.

Despite his absence, Squanch Games insists the sequel retains the same spirit of chaotic fun, with a renewed focus on tight gameplay, creative writing, and a broader universe.

Early reactions suggest the humor is just as irreverent, but potentially more refined, with new writers and voice actors stepping in to fill the void.

What’s Next for the High On Life Universe?

The original High On Life became a surprise hit when it launched in late 2022, topping Game Pass charts and building a passionate fanbase for its offbeat tone, colorful world, and blend of shooter mechanics with adult animation humor.

High On Life 2 aims to build on that foundation with a story that picks up not long after the original’s ending, featuring returning characters, fresh villains, and even more intergalactic corporate satire.

With a winter 2025 release window, fans won’t have to wait long to jump back into the madness. Whether you’re in it for the alien gibberish, the creative combat, or just to hear your guns insult you again, High On Life 2 looks like a wild ride worth strapping in for.

Expect more details, gameplay demos, and developer breakdowns in the coming months as Squanch gears up for launch.
