During the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, Skybound Games officially pulled back the curtain on Invincible VS, a brand-new 2D 3v3 tag-team fighting game set in the hyper violent world of Invincible. Scheduled to launch in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, the game aims to merge over-the-top comic book carnage with the flashy, strategic mechanics of classic fighting games like Marvel vs. Capcom.
And from the looks of the debut trailer packed with bone-crunching punches, splattered viscera, and mid air tag ins it’s clear this isn’t your typical superhero fighter.
A Bloody Love Letter to the Source Material
Invincible VS is built from the ground up to reflect the style and tone of Robert Kirkman’s Invincible universe. Drawing heavily from both the comics and the Prime Video animated series, the game features characters like Invincible (Mark Grayson), Atom Eve, Bulletproof, Thula, and of course, the ever-ominous Omni-Man. Skybound promises that more characters both heroes and villains will be revealed as the game approaches launch.
Visually, the game adopts an animation style that mimics the 24-frames-per-second look of the show, with high-fidelity, hand drawn animations that keep each punch, kick, and dismemberment fluid and expressive. It’s a brutal ballet of superhero destruction, rendered with comic-accurate flair.
And yes expect plenty of blood.
3v3 Combat with Strategic Depth
The core of Invincible VS revolves around 3v3 tag-based combat, where players select a trio of fighters and switch between them mid-battle. This opens the door for layered combos, assist attacks, and strategic team synergy perfect for high-level play.
Skybound has stated that gameplay will feature “accessible but deep mechanics,” aiming to appeal to both newcomers and fighting game veterans alike. Each character will have a distinct moveset and playstyle, staying true to their comic counterparts Omni-Man’s overwhelming power, Atom Eve’s utility and control, and Invincible’s versatile, scrappy aggression.
Whether you’re playing solo or facing off online, Invincible VS promises fights that are as chaotic as they are tactical.
Voice Talent and Story Integration
Adding to the authenticity, original voice actors from the Invincible animated series are returning to reprise their roles. While the full roster of talent hasn’t been revealed yet, J.K. Simmons (Omni-Man) and Steven Yeun (Invincible) are expected to headline the cast.
The game will feature both competitive and narrative modes. Skybound has hinted at an original story mode that explores “what-if” scenarios in the Invincible multiverse, potentially offering fans a fresh spin on familiar events from the comic.
Invincible’s Gaming Universe Expands
Invincible VS is the latest addition to Skybound’s growing slate of video game adaptations. It follows the visual novel Invincible Presents: Atom Eve and the mobile title Guarding the Globe. The franchise’s popularity has also led to crossover appearances in Mortal Kombat 1 and Fortnite, cementing Invincible as a transmedia juggernaut.
With Invincible Season 3 in development and the IP at peak popularity, now is the perfect time for a dedicated fighting game to make its mark.
As of now, Invincible VS is targeting a 2026 release, with development currently underway for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. While no beta or demo has been confirmed, more gameplay is expected to surface later this year during major gaming events.
Whether you’re a die-hard fighting game fan or just want to see Omni-Man punch someone’s spine out, Invincible VS is shaping up to be a bloody good time.

This looks like fun. It might actually pull me away from Ultra Street Fighter IV for a few minutes
