The Rogue Prince of Persia Launches This August

The Crown Reclaimed

Ubisoft and Evil Empire have officially confirmed that The Rogue Prince of Persia will leave Early Access and fully launch this August, bringing with it a refined roguelite experience and a bold new chapter in the legendary franchise.

After debuting in May 2024 in Steam Early Access, The Rogue Prince of Persia quickly turned heads with its fast-paced acrobatic gameplay, vibrant art direction, and brutal combat loop. Now, Evil Empire the team behind Dead Cells is ready to deliver the full 1.0 release, promising a deeper, more complete version of their modern take on the Prince of Persia legacy.

A Modern Twist on a Classic Legacy

Far from the traditional linear adventures of the mainline series, The Rogue Prince of Persia reimagines the franchise as a 2D roguelite. Players step into the sandals of a rebellious Prince who defies his family’s legacy and must harness his agility, skill, and time-bending tools to reclaim a kingdom under siege by a corrupt and mysterious force.

The game is built around high-tempo traversal and slick, responsive combat. Wall-running, pole-vaulting, and deadly acrobatics are central to its gameplay, as players sprint through procedurally generated levels, dispatching enemies with a growing arsenal of weapons and relics. Each run is a new challenge and each death is a step toward mastering the rogue’s path.

Evolving Through Feedback

Since its early access debut, The Rogue Prince of Persia has seen multiple major updates, introducing new enemy types, biomes, combat mechanics, and quality-of-life features shaped directly by player feedback. Evil Empire’s commitment to community engagement has been a major strength of the game’s development.

The full 1.0 release will include brand new boss encounters, additional story content, revamped level design, and enhanced progression systems. Ubisoft and Evil Empire have also confirmed that performance optimizations and controller support refinements will be part of the launch version.

What’s Next?

While The Rogue Prince of Persia is confirmed to fully launch in August 2025 for PC, console versions are still in the works. Evil Empire has hinted that once the 1.0 release is out and stable, they plan to focus on porting the game to other platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.

As The Rogue Prince of Persia prepares to reclaim its throne, fans of the series both old and new can expect a thrilling and challenging return to a beloved world, this time reimagined with roguelite flair and modern momentum.

  1. I don’t doubt this will be good, but I am seriously over waiting for UBI to just give me the PoP and SplinterCell remasters / remakes. I seriously have UBI-Fatigue…
