Stellar Blade, the once PlayStation exclusive action RPG from Korean developer Shift Up, is reportedly being considered for a release on Nintendo’s next-generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2. However, despite growing speculation across gaming circles and multiple unverified reports, Shift Up has yet to confirm any official plans for a Switch 2 port.
The conversation began swirling after a recent investor presentation by Shift Up, where the company discussed expanding its platform support beyond PlayStation 5. A PC release has already been locked in, with Stellar Blade launching on Windows this July. Meanwhile, a sequel to the stylish character action game is in active development, slated to arrive before 2027.
But what about Nintendo’s upcoming console?
Rumours Outpacing Reality
Some Korean outlets and industry insiders have hinted that Stellar Blade may find its way to both Xbox Series X|S and the Nintendo Switch 2. These rumours, however, remain unsubstantiated by any official announcement. As of now, Shift Up has only publicly acknowledged plans for a PC version and long-term franchise expansion including Stellar Blade 2.
In a statement responding to recent speculation, a representative from Shift Up said, “We are currently focused on the PC version of Stellar Blade and future franchise growth. No other platforms have been confirmed at this time.”
Why the Rumors Matter
The notion of Stellar Blade coming to Nintendo’s next console isn’t far-fetched. Reports suggest that the Switch 2 is a significant hardware leap, potentially capable of handling graphically intense games that were previously the domain of PlayStation and Xbox. With Stellar Blade already proven as a technical showcase on PS5, a Switch 2 version could be feasible if Nintendo’s new hardware lives up to the expectations.
Furthermore, with Stellar Blade selling over 1 million copies and reaching nearly 200,000 concurrent players on Steam, there’s no doubt Shift Up is looking to broaden the game’s reach even further.
A Growing Franchise
While we wait for confirmation on future ports, one thing is certain—Stellar Blade isn’t a one-and-done project. Shift Up has officially confirmed that a full sequel is in development, with internal targets aiming for release before 2027. Details remain scarce, but the studio has expressed strong interest in building Stellar Blade into a long-running franchise.
Please be True
For now, Stellar Blade remains a PlayStation 5 and PC title. The potential for a Nintendo Switch 2 version adds an enticing wrinkle to the game’s future but until Shift Up confirms it, fans should manage their expectations.
