Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 2 Revealed Early by Accident

Lagiacrus Returns, Layered Weapons Come Back, and a Fierce Arch-Tempered Hunt Awaits

Capcom’s big reveal for Monster Hunter Wilds‘ next major content drop may have been spoiled ahead of schedule. Title Update 2, which was expected to debut during the upcoming Capcom Showcase on June 26, appears to have been leaked prematurely through the PlayStation website. The listing was quickly pulled, but not before eager fans caught a glimpse of what’s coming and it’s a lot.

A Fan-Favorite Monster Returns

Leading the charge in this update is none other than Lagiacrus, the iconic leviathan first introduced in Monster Hunter Tri. Often requested by long-time fans, Lagiacrus’ return will no doubt generate buzz across the community. The thunderous sea serpent hasn’t appeared in a mainline game since Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, and many have speculated about its absence due to technical constraints in World and Rise. Its return in Wilds could mean the team has finally cracked the code on its complex movement and terrain interactions.

Arch-Tempered Uth Duna Roars Onto the Scene

Joining Lagiacrus is an even more fearsome foe: Arch-Tempered Uth Duna. This enhanced version of the apex predator from the Scarlet Forest is poised to offer one of the most intense battles in Wilds to date. If the base Uth Duna wasn’t already brutal enough, hunters will need to prepare thoroughly for this ramped-up encounter. Expect higher damage output, new attack patterns, and exclusive rewards for top-tier hunters.

Layered Weapons Are Back

Customization fans will be pleased to hear that layered weapons are making a return. First introduced in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, this feature allows players to alter the appearance of their weapons without changing their stats. It’s a boon for fashion hunters looking to maintain style without sacrificing effectiveness. This update gives players the chance to craft a truly personalized hunting experience both in terms of visuals and performance.

Seasonal Event and QoL Improvements

The leak also mentions a new seasonal event, though details remain scarce. These events typically come with festive aesthetics, time-limited quests, and unique armor sets, so fans can likely expect similar treatment here.

In addition, quality-of-life (QoL) updates are expected to enhance various aspects of gameplay. While not all the changes have been detailed, it’s likely that Capcom is continuing to refine UI elements, crafting flow, and multiplayer interactions areas where the player base has been vocal with feedback since launch.

When Does It Drop?

According to the PlayStation listing, Title Update 2 will launch on June 30, 2025. That lines up neatly with Capcom’s June 26 showcase, which is now expected to serve more as a formal confirmation rather than a fresh announcement.

Capcom’s Response?

At the time of writing, Capcom has not officially commented on the leak. However, it’s possible they’ll embrace the attention and offer more comprehensive breakdowns during the showcase later this week. If history is any indication, the company may even surprise fans with a “play it now” approach immediately following the presentation

Monster Hunter Wilds continues to evolve with new content and returning favourites, and despite this unintentional early reveal, excitement remains high. Whether you’re returning to challenge Lagiacrus, facing down an Arch-Tempered nightmare, or just eager to glam up your gear, Title Update 2 looks to offer something for everyone.

Stay tuned for Capcom’s official details on June 26 right here at 1-Up Games but in the meantime, it’s safe to start prepping your gear. The hunt resumes June 30.
