In what could be a major event for Nintendo fans, several insiders are claiming that the next Nintendo Direct presentation is set to take place in July 2025. While Nintendo has yet to make an official announcement, the reports are gaining traction and the timing would certainly make sense.
A Return to Form?
The last general Nintendo Direct was held in April 2025, and historically, Nintendo tends to host a summer Direct around June or July. With Summer Game Fest having already come and gone, July now stands as the perfect window for Nintendo to reclaim the spotlight with its own showcase.
The latest speculation comes from YouTuber and content creator BeatEmUps (Wood Hawker), who claims to have insider information confirming a July Nintendo Direct. While he hasn’t revealed his sources, others in the gaming community have echoed similar rumblings, suggesting there’s more to this rumour than wishful thinking.
What Might Be Shown?
If a July Direct does happen, fans can likely expect more than just a few game updates.
One major rumour is that GameCube classics like Pokémon Colosseum, F-Zero GX, and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker could join the Nintendo Switch Online library but only for Switch 2 users with the premium Expansion Pack subscription.
Animal Crossing, Atlus, and More
Beyond hardware, games are always the main event and several titles are expected to make an appearance. Among the biggest rumoured reveals:
- A new Animal Crossing title, currently in development and reportedly targeting a 2026 release. This would be the first mainline installment since the record-breaking Animal Crossing: New Horizons launched in 2020.
- Metaphor: ReFantazio, the stylish Atlus RPG from the creators of Persona 5, is believed to be heading to Switch 2, following its critical acclaim on other platforms.
- Third-party surprises, possibly including Capcom, Square Enix, or Bandai Namco, could show up with fresh ports or new titles designed to showcase Switch 2’s upgraded capabilities.
That said, fans should temper expectations until Nintendo makes it official. As with all rumours, it’s best to treat these claims with a grain of salt even if they are starting to pile up.
For now, all eyes are on July. If the rumours are true, Nintendo may soon have some big surprises in store.

One response to “Nintendo Direct Set for July, It’s Claimed”
If there’s a third part surprise of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 4 coming exclusively to switch 2, I am going to be annoyed.
