Also included but only until July 15 are Destiny 2’s episodic story chapters: Echoes, Revenant, and Heresy, which serve as a narrative bridge to the upcoming expansion.
Best of all? Anything you unlock or earn during the event is yours to keep. Whether it’s weapons, armour, cosmetics, or Triumphs you get to keep all progress made during the free period, even if you don’t purchase the expansions afterward.
Why Now?
This free window is perfectly timed with the imminent arrival of The Edge of Fate, which launches on July 15 and marks the start of Destiny 2’s new storytelling arc: the Fate saga. This expansion kicks off the game’s next era, introducing a new location Kepler Station along with new enemies, revamped gear systems, and a global reset to bring all players to a level playing field.
By giving players access to everything leading up to this new beginning, Bungie is effectively extending an olive branch: come in, catch up, and stay for what’s next.
