Arkane’s Blade Game Is Still Years Away, Insider Says

Xbox-exclusive Marvel project reportedly in early development following Redfall fallout

Fans hoping to see Arkane’s upcoming Blade game anytime soon may need to settle in for a long wait. New reports suggest that the project announced at The Game Awards 2023 is still in the early stages of development, and it could be years before it’s ready to release.

The news comes from Windows Central’s Jez Corden, who spoke on a recent episode of the Xbox Two podcast. According to Corden, Arkane’s Blade is “very early” in development, with no gameplay systems fully in place yet. “I don’t think we’ll see that game for a long, long time,” he said.

Blade was revealed in a flashy cinematic trailer that showcased the vampire hunter stalking the rainy, blood-soaked streets of Paris. Though the tone was stylish and unmistakably mature, the reveal lacked any actual gameplay or release date, raising early questions about how far along the project really was.

Since then, speculation has only grown, especially after Arkane Austin developers of Redfall was caught up in Microsoft’s sweeping studio shake-ups. In May 2025, the studio was slated for closure alongside Tango Gameworks and Alpha Dog Games. However, due to internal restructuring and backlash, Arkane Austin was reportedly given time to finish existing commitments before ultimately winding down or reabsorbing talent elsewhere.

Fans hoping for a fast return to form for Arkane may need to remain patient. With the game still in early development and the studio recovering from a turbulent year, Blade might not see the light of day until 2027 or later.

Still, for those who love Arkane’s signature immersive sim gameplay and Marvel’s edgier characters, the promise of a Blade game built with cinematic flair and first-person action remains exciting even if it’s just a distant glimmer for now.
