Very Good Line Up

Microsoft has officially revealed the first wave of titles heading to Xbox Game Pass for August 2025, and it’s a lineup that blends familiar franchises with fresh experiences. Headlining the list is Assassin’s Creed Mirage, a title that’s been eagerly anticipated by fans looking for a more focused, stealth-oriented return to the series’ roots.

Set in ninth-century Baghdad, Mirage puts players in the role of Basim, a young thief turned assassin. With its emphasis on classic parkour and stealth gameplay, the game has been praised for capturing the essence of the original Assassin’s Creed titles. Its addition to Game Pass marks a major win for subscribers, especially those who may have skipped it during its initial launch.

But Mirage is just the beginning.

  • Rain World: Downpour (August 5)
  • Citizen Sleeper 2: Flux Protocol (August 6)
  • Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders (August 6)

These games will be available across Console, PC, and Cloud, depending on the title, with several of them launching day one on the service.

One of the more intriguing additions is Citizen Sleeper 2, the sequel to the acclaimed narrative RPG. It expands on the dystopian storytelling and player-driven decision-making that made the first game so memorable.

Meanwhile, MechWarrior 5: Clans drops players into a war-torn sci-fi battlefield filled with massive machines and tactical chaos. It’s the kind of game that fits perfectly into the Game Pass catalog—niche enough to fly under the radar but engaging enough to hook the curious.

The Hellblade II – Enhanced Edition is another surprise, offering performance upgrades and visual improvements that could entice players to revisit the dark and emotionally intense journey of Senua.

Xbox Game Pass has consistently delivered value month after month, but this August feels particularly strong. With Assassin’s Creed Mirage leading the charge and a healthy mix of genres and tones filling out the lineup, subscribers have a lot to be excited about.

Wave 2 for August is still under wraps, but if this first drop is any indication, the second half of the month may have even more surprises in store.

If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to dive back into Game Pass or just need an excuse to explore something new August 2025 might be the time to do it.
