Metal Eden Finally Has a Release Date

Metal Eden Utopia ends with a bullet

After months of speculation and a previous delay, Metal Eden has officially locked in a new release date September 2, 2025. Developed by the team at Reikon Games, this upcoming sci-fi first-person shooter is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

Originally announced with a May 6 release window during Sony’s February 2025 State of Play, Metal Eden quickly gained traction among fans of high-octane shooters. The game’s sleek cyber-futuristic aesthetic, brutal combat design, and synth-heavy soundtrack immediately drew comparisons to titles like Ghostrunner, DOOM Eternal, and Turbo Overkill. But after the game’s demo hit digital storefronts, feedback from players led the developers to take a step back and delay the game.

In a blog post shared by publisher Deep Silver, the developers explained the delay was necessary to “refine level design, enhance combat responsiveness, and polish performance across all platforms.” They also acknowledged the passionate community that emerged after the demo’s release, noting that feedback was “instrumental” in reshaping certain encounters and visual effects.

Now, with a confirmed release date, the team has released a new gameplay trailer showcasing an updated HUD, refined visuals, and expanded enemy variety. The combat remains fast-paced, relying on a mix of kinetic movement, precision shooting, and tactical ability usage. If anything, the changes appear to double down on the chaotic intensity that made the demo a standout in the first place.

Set in a dystopian colony where bio-mechanical monstrosities roam the remnants of a failed utopia, Metal Eden casts players as a rogue operative attempting to sabotage the Eden Initiative a project that sought to merge human consciousness with machine logic in hopes of creating a “perfect world.” According to narrative director Iga Tomaszewska, the story isn’t just a backdrop for the action. “We wanted to make players question their role in a system that constantly sells perfection while hiding its violence. It’s not just about shooting things it’s about what those things represent.”

Pre-orders for Metal Eden are now live on all major platforms, and those who pre-order on Steam will receive early access to the game’s new combat gauntlet mode, “Red Shift.” A deluxe edition is also planned, including the full digital soundtrack composed by Lazerhawk, an artbook, and bonus in-game cosmetics.

Whether you played the original demo or not, Metal Eden seems poised to offer a visceral, stylish experience when it launches this September. With the extra development time and a strong creative vision behind it, this is one shooter that’s worth keeping on your radar.
