It’s not every day you hear about an Xbox title dominating sales on a PlayStation console, but that’s exactly what happened in 2025 with Forza Horizon 5. Originally launched as an Xbox and PC exclusive, the game’s arrival on PlayStation 5 earlier this year caused quite a stir among racing fans and gamers alike.
Since its debut on PS5, Forza Horizon 5 has quickly climbed the charts, selling millions of copies and outpacing big-name PlayStation exclusives. The open-world racing game’s stunning visuals, expansive map set in a vibrant version of Mexico, and the sheer joy of speeding through diverse terrain have clearly struck a chord.
Many thought that PlayStation’s top sellers would be the usual suspects titles like Monster Hunter Wilds or the latest Assassin’s Creed. However, Forza Horizon 5 managed to edge ahead, showing that players are more than willing to embrace games outside of Sony’s traditional line-up.
Industry analysts point to Microsoft’s recent strategy of making some of its biggest hits available on other platforms, including PlayStation, as a key factor. This approach not only broadens the audience but also breaks down the old walls of platform exclusivity that once defined the console wars.
It’s a refreshing change, signalling a more player-focused market where accessibility and great experiences take precedence over rigid brand loyalties. Fans of racing games, regardless of their console, can now enjoy what many consider one of the best driving games ever made.
As we move further into 2025, it will be interesting to see how this trend evolves. Will other traditionally exclusive titles follow suit? For now, though, Forza Horizon 5’s success on PS5 is a clear reminder that quality gameplay and open availability can win over gamers everywhere.

One response to “Forza Horizon 5 Takes PlayStation by Storm as 2025’s Best-Selling Game”
It’s genuinely sad to see how deep PlayStation loyalty runs — to the point where many gamers would rather never play a great game than touch an Xbox. That kind of stubbornness could help push Xbox hardware out of the market entirely, and honestly, that scares me. I love almost everything Xbox has done for gaming — the only things I’ve never liked are the Duke controller and the proprietary hard drive expansions. If Xbox disappears, PS will be the only “premium” gaming console left — and with no competition, Sony will have no real reason to innovate. Look at what Xbox has brought us: amazing online services, proper backwards compatibility, cross-platform licences and saves, and their pioneering online voice chat protocol that set the industry standard and took in-game comms to a whole new level. Xbox has been driving the industry forward for decades — losing that would hurt everyone, not just Xbox fans. LOYAL PLAYSTATION GAMERS OWE XBOX SO MUCH GRATITUDE FOR WHAT THEY (PS gamers) HAVE TODAY AND THEY DON’T EVEN KNOW IT BECAUSE THEY REFUSE TO SEE ANYTHING THAT IS GREEN
