Ubisoft has confirmed that something substantial is coming to The Division 2, and the reveal is set to happen later this month at Gamescom 2025. The publisher has been tight-lipped about specifics, but it’s teasing what it calls a “big Division 2 project” alongside updates for The Division: Resurgence, the mobile spin-off.
The announcement came as part of Ubisoft’s Gamescom line-up reveal, which outlines two developer panels. The second session will focus heavily on the future of The Division 2, exploring how player feedback has shaped recent updates before pulling back the curtain on this new initiative. Ubisoft says it has “only just started teasing it” but is eager to give fans a first proper look.
The reveal will take place in Cologne, Germany, between August 20 and 24, with all presentations streamed live for those who can’t attend in person. While the company has yet to confirm a specific day or time for the panel, it’s expected to slot into the main exhibition days following Opening Night Live on August 19.
Unsurprisingly, the mystery has sparked speculation. Some fans believe the project could be a next-generation upgrade for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, taking advantage of newer hardware for better visuals and performance. Others think it may be an all-new expansion, potentially returning to the snow-covered streets that defined the original Division. A smaller camp wonders whether Ubisoft might explore cross-platform features or even a release on Nintendo’s next-gen hardware.
Whatever form it takes, the reveal arrives at a pivotal moment for The Division 2. The game recently landed on Xbox Game Pass, drawing in a new wave of players. For Ubisoft, this “big project” is an opportunity to re-energize its community and reaffirm its long-term plans for the series.
Fans can expect more details and possibly a first gameplay glimpse once the panel goes live. Until then, the only certainty is that The Division 2 will be making one of the bigger splashes at this year’s Gamescom.
