For months, fans of Bandai Namco’s Tales series have been waiting to see which game would be the next to get a modern revival. After the release of Tales of Graces f Remastered earlier this year, speculation naturally turned toward which entry would follow. Now, thanks to a slip-up on Bandai Namco’s end, it looks like the answer may already be out in the open.
Earlier this week, Bandai Namco Europe briefly posted a video placeholder on its official YouTube channel titled “Tales of Series News – August 18”. The video was quickly taken down, but not before fans noticed the thumbnail featured artwork from Tales of Xillia. That alone was enough to spark conversation across social media, with many taking it as an unintentional confirmation that the 2011 PlayStation 3 RPG is next in line for a remaster.

The timing lines up with Bandai Namco’s previous promise that more remasters were on the way this summer. While the publisher hasn’t said anything officially about Xillia, the accidental thumbnail all but gives it away. It wouldn’t be the first time a game announcement slipped out this way publishers often prepare assets ahead of schedule, and mistakes like this are rarely coincidences.
If Tales of Xillia is indeed the next remaster, it will mark the first time the game has been available outside of the PS3. That’s a big deal for fans who missed it the first time around, since Xillia was one of the more ambitious entries in the series. It introduced the Dual Raid Linear Motion Battle System, a flashy combat style that let characters link up for combined attacks. The game also stood out for offering two protagonists Jude and Milla whose perspectives gave players different angles on the same story.
One open question is whether Bandai Namco plans to bundle Tales of Xillia 2 with the remaster. The sequel followed just two years after the original and continued many of the same mechanics. Fans online are split: some think Namco will keep it simple and stick to the first game, while others hope for a collection that includes both.
The supposed reveal date of August 18 is just around the corner, and if the leak holds true, that’s when we’ll get official confirmation. Until then, excitement is already building. Xillia holds a special place among longtime Tales fans, and the chance to revisit it on modern platforms is exactly the kind of revival people have been asking for.
