LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight announced for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC

The Dark Knight Returns

Warner Bros. Games and TT Games are bringing the Caped Crusader back to bricks. At Gamescom 2025, the companies revealed LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, the first new LEGO Batman title in more than a decade. The game will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC in 2026.

A Return to Gotham in LEGO Form

The original LEGO Batman trilogy, released between 2008 and 2012, became fan favourites for blending classic LEGO humor with DC’s iconic heroes and villains. Legacy of the Dark Knight aims to expand on that legacy with an open-world Gotham, modern visuals, and a story that pays tribute to every era of Batman from his Golden Age roots to modern interpretations.

According to TT Games, players can expect to explore a fully explorable Gotham City built entirely in LEGO, with neighbourhood’s ranging from Arkham Asylum to Wayne Manor. Along the way, Batman will team up with allies like Robin, Batgirl, and Nightwing, while facing off against a rogues’ gallery that includes Joker, Harley Quinn, Penguin, and even deep cuts from Batman’s long history.

A Celebration of Batman’s History

What sets this entry apart is its focus on Batman’s many different incarnations. The game will feature unlockable costumes and character variants that span decades, including nods to Adam West’s campy 1960s version, Tim Burton’s gothic take, Christopher Nolan’s gritty Dark Knight, and Matt Reeves’ recent interpretation.

In addition, TT Games hinted that Legacy of the Dark Knight will include co-op gameplay, puzzle-solving, and vehicle missions, staples of the LEGO formula, while introducing new mechanics tailored for modern consoles.

Release Details

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is set to release sometime in 2026. While no exact date has been confirmed, Warner Bros. noted that more details will arrive later this year, including a first gameplay trailer.

For long-time fans, the announcement feels like a nostalgic homecoming. It’s been over ten years since the last LEGO Batman game, and with modern hardware, TT Games has the chance to give Gotham its most ambitious LEGO makeover yet.
