Fans of Falcom’s long-running Ys series won’t have to wait much longer for the latest chapter in Adol Christin’s adventures. NIS America has confirmed that Ys X: Proud Nordics will arrive in the West in early 2026, marking the official debut of this expanded edition outside of Japan.
The game will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and PC platforms, including Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store. A physical version is also planned for Switch 2, shipping in the new “Game-Key Card” format that Nintendo introduced for its next-generation system.
Originally released in Japan as Ys X: Nordics, the “Proud Nordics” version is billed as the definitive edition, offering expanded features, balance tweaks, and new content. One of the most notable additions is Muspelheim, a challenging new dungeon designed to test veteran players. The game also introduces refinements to its combat and exploration systems, bringing more fluidity to the series’ trademark action RPG style.
Set against a Norse-inspired backdrop, Ys X takes Adol to the northern sea and introduces the people known as the Nordics. The story promises a mix of seafaring adventure, mythical intrigue, and the kind of fast-paced, skill-driven battles that have defined Ys for decades. Longtime fans will notice improvements to visuals, character animations, and quality-of-life features, while newcomers should find the streamlined mechanics more approachable than past entries.
Falcom’s Ys franchise has been steadily building a stronger presence in the West, and NIS America’s consistent localization efforts have played a major role in its growing popularity. With the arrival of Proud Nordics, Western audiences will be getting the most polished version of the latest installment, rather than waiting for post-launch patches or re-releases.
While an exact release date hasn’t yet been pinned down, the early 2026 window ensures that players won’t be left in the dark for long. Given the momentum behind the series and the launch of new hardware, Ys X: Proud Nordics looks set to be one of the franchise’s most widely accessible entries to date.
