NBN Co will be increasing the speed of various NBN plans but only for Fibre to the Premise (FTTP) and Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) connections.
The good news is that NBN will upgrade customers to FTTP for free and often only takes a few weeks.
After twelve years since the NBN took an arrow to the knee, it finally feels like the original vision is upon us.
The September speed upgrade will be free for customers on the plans getting increases, and will include the introduction of new, faster tiers. All speeds in the table are in Megabits Per Second:
| Plan | Current Speed | From Mid September |
| Home Fast | 100 down 20 up | 500 down 50 up |
| Home Superfast | 250 down 25 up | 750 down 50 up |
| Home Ultrafast | 1000 down 50 up | 1000 down 100 up |
| Home Hyperfast | N/A | 2000 down 100* up |
*200 up will be available on FTTP.
New speeds will be made available to ISPs from September 14th, with some ISPs waiting to September 15th before moving customers over.
