Koei Tecmo has revealed the games it plans to showcase at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, and fans of the publisher’s action-heavy catalog have plenty to look forward to. The event, which runs from September 25 to 28 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, will feature three major titles playable on the show floor.

At the centre of the line-up is Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, a new Musou-style spin on The Legend of Zelda series, developed in collaboration with Nintendo. This marks the very first chance for the public to try the game, which is scheduled to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 in winter 2025. Given how strongly Hyrule Warriors resonated with fans of both Zelda and Koei Tecmo’s signature large-scale battle design, the demo is likely to draw a long line of players at TGS.

Joining it is Ninja Gaiden 4, a long-awaited revival of Team Ninja’s flagship action franchise. The game is being co-developed with PlatinumGames and published under Xbox Game Studios, though it will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. With its global release date locked in for October 21, the TGS demo comes at a crucial moment, giving players a taste of what’s being positioned as one of the year’s big action titles.

Rounding out the booth is Nioh 3, the next entry in Team Ninja’s acclaimed samurai-inspired action RPG series. While Koei Tecmo has yet to share a release window, the title will be available to play on PlayStation 5 and PC during the show. Given the strong following of the first two games, Nioh 3 is expected to be one of the more talked-about hands-on experiences at TGS.

A Balanced Showcase

Koei Tecmo’s lineup this year feels deliberately balanced: one high-profile collaboration (Hyrule Warriors), one return of a legendary franchise (Ninja Gaiden 4), and one continuation of a proven fan-favorite series (Nioh 3). Together, these three games highlight the publisher’s ability to both reinvent classics and push forward with new iterations of its most successful formulas.

With the Tokyo Game Show often serving as the stage for major announcements and first impressions, Koei Tecmo’s booth is shaping up to be one of the busiest corners of the convention floor. For fans of stylish action and sprawling battles, it’s clear the publisher has come prepared to deliver a strong showing in 2025.
