Haven Studios’ upcoming heist title Fairgames has lost a key figure, with Game Director Daniel Drapeau leaving the project. His next step is already confirmed: Drapeau has joined WB Games Montreal.
For Haven, this marks a significant leadership change. The Montreal-based studio, founded by industry veteran Jade Raymond and later acquired by Sony, has been working on Fairgames as part of PlayStation’s push into live-service games. The title was unveiled last year with a flashy reveal trailer, promising cooperative heists and a blend of competitive and strategic gameplay. Losing its Game Director midway through development raises questions about how the vision for the game will evolve.
Drapeau’s move to WB Games Montreal keeps him firmly planted in the Canadian development scene. WB Games Montreal is known for Batman: Arkham Origins and, more recently, Gotham Knights. While his specific role hasn’t been made public yet, his experience suggests he’ll be stepping into a leadership position as the studio charts its next big project.
Leadership changes like this aren’t uncommon in the industry, but the timing is notable. Haven is in the thick of trying to deliver on Sony’s strategy of building long-term, service-based games. Meanwhile, WB Games Montreal has been relatively quiet since the release of Gotham Knights, fueling speculation about what comes next for the studio.
Neither Haven nor WB Games Montreal has issued an official statement on the move, but given how central Drapeau’s role was on Fairgames, fans are watching closely. For now, the spotlight shifts to both studios: Haven will need to show that Fairgames is still on track, and WB Games Montreal now has an experienced director on hand for whatever it’s building next.
