Stellar Blade Sequel Officially in Development, Planned Before 2027

CAN NOT WAIT

Shift Up has officially confirmed that a sequel to Stellar Blade is now in development. The news was revealed in the studio’s latest financial roadmap, which places the next entry in the series on track to arrive before 2027.

The original Stellar Blade, which launched earlier this year on PlayStation 5, quickly built a dedicated following thanks to its stylish combat, sci-fi setting, and striking presentation. Its success appears to have given Shift Up the confidence to move forward with a full sequel, one that is expected to expand the scope of the world while keeping the action-driven core intact.

According to the company’s roadmap, development is still in the early stages. The project is currently described as being in “deep research and development,” but Shift Up has already hinted at ambitions to deliver a larger experience than the original. An expanded world, enhanced combat systems, and possible platform expansion are all on the table.

That last point may be of particular interest to fans outside the PlayStation ecosystem. While the first game was a PS5 exclusive at launch, a PC version has since been announced, and the sequel could see an even broader release. However, no official confirmation has been made regarding platforms.

Although the studio has set a target window of before 2027, the timeline isn’t locked in stone. Developers noted they will “do their best” to meet that schedule, suggesting that delays are possible as the sequel takes shape.

Still, for fans of Stellar Blade, the confirmation alone is reason to celebrate. The first game marked Shift Up’s console debut, and with its sequel already in motion, it’s clear the studio sees long-term potential in the series.
