Yakuza Kiwami 3 Officially Revealed

OMG

After months of rumors and even a website slip-up that briefly gave the game away, RGG Studio has officially lifted the curtain on Yakuza Kiwami 3. The remake of the 2009 PlayStation 3 entry has been rebuilt from the ground up in the modern Dragon Engine, and the debut trailer has already sparked plenty of conversation among long-time fans.

A Full Remake, Not Just a Touch-Up

Unlike the lightly remastered version that arrived during the PS4 era, Kiwami 3 promises a complete reimagining. Combat, visuals, and even narrative presentation have been brought in line with recent Like a Dragon titles. Early footage shows Kamurocho and Ryukyu shimmering with neon and atmosphere, while character models carry the same fidelity seen in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

A New Story to Explore

Alongside the main remake, RGG is packaging an all-new side story called Yakuza 3: Dark Ties. This additional campaign focuses on Yoshitaka Mine, a fan-favorite antagonist whose cold and calculating demeanor made him stand out in the original. Dark Ties aims to flesh out his rise through the underworld, offering players the chance to step into his shoes for the first time.

Another significant change comes in the acting department. The remake will feature full Japanese and English voice tracks, complete with modern facial capture for more nuanced performances. Veteran actor Teruyuki Kagawa has also joined the cast, portraying Go Hamazaki in a role that looks to add more weight to the character.

The story once again moves between the bustling streets of Kamurocho and the laid-back charm of Okinawa’s Ryukyu district. Long-time fans will recognize these locales, but the fresh coat of paint and new side activities should give returning players plenty of reasons to get lost all over again.

Release Date and Platforms

Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties will release together on February 12, 2026. The package will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and the newly announced Nintendo Switch 2.

With the first two Kiwami remakes already beloved by fans, expectations are high for this latest re-entry. By bringing in fresh story content, modern technology, and a commitment to overhauling the weaker elements of the original game, RGG Studio is making a strong case that Kiwami 3 will be more than just a nostalgia trip it might finally give Yakuza 3 the redemption arc it has long deserved.
