Valor Mortis Public Playtest Set for October

Let’s Go

Fans of fast-paced action games will soon get their first chance to dive into Valor Mortis. Developer One More Level, best known for their work on Ghostrunner, has confirmed that the game will host a public playtest from October 6 through October 13 on PC via Steam.

Unlike many closed betas that are limited to small groups of players, this test is open to anyone who signs up, and it’s shaping up to be a sizable slice of the game. The build includes the introductory chapter, complete with a main boss fight, a mini-boss encounter, and around ten levels of player progression. Players will also be able to explore the first branch of the upgrade tree, giving an early look at how character growth will work in the full release.

The developers aren’t just handing out early access; they’re actively encouraging community participation. During the week-long event, players can take part in challenges such as speedruns, screenshot competitions, and even fan art contests, with the chance to win themed prize packs that will carry over to launch.

For now, the playtest will be exclusive to PC, with no word on console participation until later in development. Given One More Level’s track record with kinetic, stylish combat, expectations are already running high.

Sign-ups are live through the game’s Steam page and the official website, but spots may be limited as the team manages server load during the test.

With only a week to explore this first taste of Valor Mortis, players will want to make the most of the opportunity. It’s rare to see a pre-alpha build offered so openly, and the event should provide valuable feedback as the studio pushes toward release.
