A new Avatar Fighting Game has been announced at New York Comic Con with a placeholder name of Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game.
Coming Winter 2026, the developers promise a fighting game focused on “fluidity, responsiveness and online integrity” with emphasis placed on “Best in Class Net Code and Cross Play” with “proprietary rollback netcode”.
The Fighting Game is described as a 1v1 fast-paced fighter where you battle as twelve (at launch) Avatar characters in a hand-drawn 2D art style to preserve the original series’ style & animation, which is clear to see in the trailer embedded below:
Key features listed on the Steam page:
- 12 Playable Characters at launch, with many more released via Season Model
- Selectable support characters influence your fighting style and grant special moves
- Unique “Flow System” w/Movement Centric Gameplay
- Single Player Campaign w/Original Narrative
- Combo Trials
- Gallery Mode
- Best in Class Net Code and Cross Play
If you would like a better understanding of who is behind this game and the team at “Gameplay Group International”, I highly recommend checking out this Reddit post by u/Avaris_a as they offer a detailed breakdown with a beautiful timeline.

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game (a name I think they should keep!) is coming to PS4, PS5, Switch 2, Steam and Xbox Series in winter of 2026.
