We had the privilege of having a game of Pro Jank Footy at their booth in the PAX Rising section at PAX Australia 2025.
What is clear from the start is that developers from Powerbomb Games and Tinker Town, are passionate about their Footy with the game respecting the sport at every moment without limiting the video game elements.
There are two ways to play, classic, and arcade. We chose to play arcade for reasons that are about to become obvious and understand classic to be more aligned with the rules of the sport, generally less crazy.
Pro Jank Footy is an over-the-top arcade comedy-sports game where Aussie Rules gets rogue. Score goals to unleash game-changing power-ups, build a deck of absurd abilities, and tackle a season where no two matches are ever the same—solo or with your mates.

Across four quarters, you will do whatever you possibly can, to beat the other team, from picking a team inspired by the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle or after conceding a goal, picking a power up that will shake the game apart, sometimes literally.
A couple of the power-ups I was able to use to gain victory was the goal acting like a magnet to the ball, and towards the end opening massive gaps in the field caused by an earthquake, that you could indeed be swallowed by. But my favourite power-up I witnessed whilst waiting in queue was as simple card that immediately doubled the player count on the field, absolutely wild!
We had an amazing time with the game and could tell everyone else around us felt the same. Every second was high intensity, every second mattered, fun from start to finish.
Game features:
- Over 200 powerups
- Single-player, couch co-op, and online multiplayer
- Season mode with deck-building mechanics
- Proudly embraces Australian culture

Something I learned after playing the game (as it’s very loud at PAX!) is that Broden Kelly (Aunty Donna, The Footy with Broden Kelly) is the in-game commentator, which just feels so perfect.
Coming in 2026, Pro Jank Footy gets a high recommendation for the Steam Wishlist.
