Assassin’s Creed Shadows Switch 2 Release Date Leaks Online

It’s Coming

It looks like Assassin’s Creed Shadows could be making its way to Nintendo’s next-generation console sooner than expected. Multiple retailer listings and insider reports suggest the game is targeting a December 5, 2025 release for the upcoming Switch 2, even though Ubisoft hasn’t made any formal announcement yet.

According to listings that briefly appeared on European storefronts, the Switch 2 version will reportedly use a Game-Key Card instead of a traditional cartridge meaning players may receive a download code inside a physical box rather than the full game on the card itself. It’s not an unfamiliar move for Ubisoft, but it’s one that tends to divide fans who prefer collecting physical editions.

The leak, first spotted by well-known leaker billbil-kun, was later backed up by several outlets, including Video Games Chronicle and GameSpot. Both noted that the leaked release date falls neatly into the holiday window, just a day after Metroid Prime 4’s scheduled launch a timing that could create a surprising face-off between two major titles on Nintendo’s new hardware.

Retail sources also hint at a €50 price point in Europe, aligning with what we’ve seen from other cross-generation releases. Pre-orders are expected to go live before November 7, though that date hasn’t been officially verified.

Ubisoft has so far stayed quiet on the topic. During a recent investor call, CEO Yves Guillemot did confirm that Assassin’s Creed Shadows would receive “new versions on other machines,” but he stopped short of naming the Switch 2 specifically. Given the pattern of leaks and the consistency of retailer data, however, it’s hard not to see where this is heading.

If the December 5 leak holds true, Switch 2 players will soon have the chance to experience Ubisoft’s ambitious open world in portable form though probably with a few visual compromises. Until Ubisoft confirms it, though, consider this another one of those industry secrets that’s not quite a secret anymore.
