JDM: Japanese Drift Master Heads to Xbox This November, PS5 in Early 2026

Very Excited for this

After earning a solid following on PC earlier this year, JDM: Japanese Drift Master is finally sliding onto consoles. Developer Gaming Factory has confirmed that the open-world drifting sim will arrive on Xbox Series X|S on November 21, 2025, with a PlayStation 5 version planned for the first quarter of 2026.

Set in the fictional Guntama Prefecture a region inspired by Japan’s mountainous countryside the game invites players to immerse themselves in the spirit of Japanese car culture. It’s not just about racing; it’s about attitude, precision, and expression through motion. Narrow roads snake around cliffsides, neon lights wash over small towns, and long tunnels echo with the sound of tuned engines as you chase the perfect drift.

The story follows a European driver named Touma who moves to Japan to test himself against the local street-racing scene. The narrative unfolds through manga-style cutscenes that add a personal edge to the game’s world. What stands out most, though, is the driving itself. Japanese Drift Master hits a sweet spot between realism and accessibility. The cars have weight, slides feel earned, and you can sense the moment your tires bite back into the asphalt after a long drift.

Customization runs deep. Every car can be tuned, painted, and modified, from subtle suspension tweaks to full-blown visual makeovers. For those who live and breathe JDM culture, it’s a playground of possibilities swap engines, adjust tire pressure, or just park under a streetlight to admire your creation.

The console versions promise a fully optimized experience for controller players, though wheel support will come later through post-launch updates. The developers have said that frame rate and stability are their focus for the Xbox release, ensuring smooth performance during dense urban sections and scenic mountain passes.

Players who pre-order the Xbox edition starting November 14 will receive the exclusive “Akina Phantom,” a special car that pays homage to Japan’s most iconic drift legends. It’s a nod that long-time fans of the scene will instantly recognize.
