The Vampire Survivors formula is spreading and now, it’s headed straight into the grim darkness of the far future. Games Workshop has officially announced Warhammer Survivors, a new standalone entry in the “Survivors” lineage, developed by Auroch Digital in partnership with Poncle, the studio behind the indie phenomenon that inspired it all. The game is slated for release in 2026.
According to the official description, Warhammer Survivors “brings familiar tides of endless enemies with fresh twists, iconic characters, and powerful weapons, packaged in an entirely new setting.” Or rather, settings as players will be able to fight across both the Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar universes.
Two Universes, Endless Enemies
Players will choose from a roster of classic Warhammer heroes, each drawn from their respective worlds. On the Warhammer 40K side, the confirmed lineup includes Malum Caedo (from Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun), a Cadian Shock Trooper, Trooper Kozlowski, and Brother Luca, a Space Marine Intercessor. Their enemies? None other than the endless Tyranid swarm.
Meanwhile, the Age of Sigmar roster features Neave Blacktalon, the warrior of the God-King Sigmar, Gotrek Gurnisson, and Sharynn Azurwrath, a Stormcast Eternal Vanquisher armed with a Celestial Greatsword. Their challenge comes in the form of the ever-scheming Skaven, who rise from the shadows in overwhelming numbers.

The concept is pure Survivors: fast-paced, wave-based mayhem that scales into chaos. Players will collect relics, experiment with combinations, and build devastating loadouts that can clear entire screens of enemies in seconds.
Weapons, Upgrades, and the Joy of Experimentation
The game’s official feature list promises “fast and frantic Survivors gameplay” with a “mighty cache of passives and power-ups” to aid in survival. Iconic weapons return from across Warhammer’s history, including the Boltgun, Astartes Chainsword, Whirlwind Axes, and even one of the funniest inclusions yet a collectible pot of Citadel Nuln Oil paint, a knowing wink to hobbyists worldwide.

Players can mix and match their arsenal to create “screen-clearing storms of bullets, blades, and magic.” Every run offers opportunities to unlock new upgrades, characters, and hidden relics, while secret rooms and collectibles hide deeper rewards for explorers.
Built in Partnership With Poncle
While Warhammer Survivors is being developed primarily by Auroch Digital the same team behind the acclaimed retro shooter Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun the project carries Poncle’s endorsement as part of the official Survivors lineage. It’s the first time the Vampire Survivors formula has been officially licensed for an external IP, marking a significant collaboration between indie innovation and a major gaming franchise.
The crossover makes perfect sense. Poncle’s minimalist, endlessly replayable design has inspired countless imitators, but Warhammer Survivors is shaping up to be the first adaptation that marries that addictive loop to a massive, lore-rich universe.

“In the Grim Darkness of the Far Future, There Is Only Survival”
Warhammer Survivors is planned for release in 2026, with platforms yet to be confirmed. Given Auroch’s past titles, a PC release is almost guaranteed, with console versions likely to follow.
With its blend of roguelike chaos, iconic Warhammer characters, and Poncle’s addictive gameplay DNA, Warhammer Survivors could be one of the most exciting crossovers Games Workshop has ever greenlit. Whether you’re purging Tyranids with a Boltgun or carving through Skaven with a Celestial blade, survival has never looked so grim or so fun.
