Rumour: Former inXile Senior Writer Lists Clockwork Revolution With a 2026 Release Window

Clockwork Revolution

A small but interesting detail has popped up on LinkedIn, and it has fans of inXile Entertainment’s next big RPG paying attention. Nathan Long, a former senior writer at the studio, briefly listed 2026 as the release window for Clockwork Revolution on his profile something Microsoft and inXile themselves have never publicly committed to.

Long’s profile didn’t reveal anything else about the game, nor did it point to internal milestones or development status. But because LinkedIn entries tend to reflect the timeline developers were working with during their employment, the date has sparked speculation that Microsoft may be targeting a late-2026 launch for the steampunk RPG.

It’s worth stressing that nothing about this is confirmed. Developers often update their profiles loosely or according to internal projections that later shift. Projects can slip, year markers can be placeholders, and sometimes information is simply outdated. Long left inXile earlier in development, so any date he listed could reflect plans that have already changed.

Even so, Clockwork Revolution has been one of Xbox’s most discussed upcoming first-party titles since its reveal. The early footage showed an ambitious mix of time-manipulation, branching storylines, and an aesthetic that blends industrial-era machinery with a dystopian twist something closer to Arcanum by way of BioShock Infinite.

Microsoft has been relatively quiet about the project since its initial announcement, focusing instead on other 2025 releases across its first-party lineup. A 2026 target wouldn’t be surprising, especially given inXile’s reputation for large, complex RPGs and its commitment to deep narrative systems.

Until the studio or Microsoft puts a date on it, this remains just a rumor. But for fans waiting on the next major RPG from the Wasteland team, it’s at least a hint that the gears inside Clockwork Revolution might be turning faster than expected.
