Publisher Dear Villagers and developer Sedleo have confirmed that 1348 Ex Voto, their upcoming medieval action-adventure, will launch on March 12 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Alongside the release date announcement, the studio also revealed that the previously planned Xbox Series version has been cancelled, citing a desire to concentrate development resources on delivering the strongest possible experience on PC and PlayStation.

Set during one of the most turbulent periods in Italian history, 1348 Ex Voto takes place amid the chaos of the Black Death, social collapse, and political instability sweeping across medieval Italy. Players step into the role of Aeta, a young noblewoman trained in the ways of knighthood, who sets out on a dangerous journey across the Italian peninsula after bandits raid her village and abduct her closest companion, Bianca.

The story-driven adventure is presented through a cinematic, third-person perspective and leans heavily into themes of morality, ambition, and personal choice. Speaking about the project, game director Tom Oceano and executive producer Fabiola Martelli emphasized the deeply personal nature of the narrative.

“Everything in our story is personal: it’s about moralities, ambitions, and choices,” they said. “Who we aspire to be and who we are allowed to become. Whether our means to fight for it or against it justify our end.”

1348 Ex Voto marks the debut project from Sedleo, a newly founded Italian studio led by Oceano and Martelli. The team includes international AAA veterans, and the developers’ Italian roots heavily influenced the game’s setting. Sedleo spent extensive time researching rural regions of Italy, recording landscapes and environmental details to ensure the world feels authentic and grounded in history.

Combat is inspired by Historical European Martial Arts, with swordplay animated using performance capture from trained actors. Players can switch between one-handed and two-handed combat stances, unlock new combos through skill books, and customize Aeta’s fighting style by modifying weapon components. The goal is to encourage tactical, deliberate combat rather than button-mashing.

Exploration plays a major role, taking players through medieval villages, fortified castles, mountain regions of the Apennines, and the remnants of classical Rome. Along the way, players can uncover trinkets and hidden treasures, building a collection that adds depth to the journey beyond combat alone.

With its grounded historical setting, cinematic presentation, and focus on moral storytelling, 1348 Ex Voto is shaping up to be a distinctive entry in the action-adventure space when it launches on March 12.
