Hanover-based developer com8com1 Software has announced that its upcoming arcade platformer Go! Go! Mister Chickums will launch across PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One in April 2026, with players able to get hands-on early thanks to a Steam demo arriving February 12.
Inspired by the single-screen arcade classics of the 1980s, Go! Go! Mister Chickums is a tightly focused platformer built around fast reflexes, score chasing, and constant forward momentum. Players can tackle the game solo or team up in two-player local couch co-op, where coordination and a little chaos are part of the fun.
The premise is simple and charming: a villain named Grabbo has stolen Mister Chickums’ precious eggs, and it’s up to players to chase him down, reclaim what was taken, and deal with an increasingly hostile cast of enemies along the way. Across 100 handcrafted levels, players must jump, run, and outthink their opponents before the timer hits zero, collecting bonus items and uncovering hidden mechanics that reward exploration and mastery.

Despite its cute presentation, Go! Go! Mister Chickums leans hard into classic arcade design. Each enemy comes with its own behaviour and tactical challenge, and success depends on learning patterns, exploiting openings, and making smart use of the game’s many secret systems to keep extra lives flowing.
Developer Marcel Rebenstorf shared that the character has been a long time in the making. “Five years ago, Mister Chickums hatched as a sidekick in an unreleased project that we were about to cancel. He disagreed,” Rebenstorf said. “So we built him a world to save. As lifelong fans of classic single-screen platformers, we wanted to create a love letter to arcade cult classics like Snow Bros. and Bubble Bobble. Sometimes, you just have to listen to the chicken.”

Backing the action is an upbeat original soundtrack by Zane Little, known for his Flipnote animations on YouTube, where his channel has amassed over one million subscribers. The music leans into the game’s playful tone while keeping energy high during its more frantic moments.

Alongside its arcade roots, Go! Go! Mister Chickums also includes modern features such as achievements, gamepad support with rumble, and global leaderboards on PC. For players eager to see if this small chick can stand alongside the classics that inspired it, the Steam demo on February 12 should offer a clear taste of what’s to come ahead of the full launch this April.
