Sony looks set to continue a familiar tradition. According to a new claim from industry insider NateTheHate2, a PlayStation State of Play livestream is locked in for February 2026, lining up with the company’s pattern of hosting a showcase during the month for the past five years.
The claim surfaced in response to a straightforward question about whether a State of Play would happen next month. NateTheHate2’s answer was equally direct: “There will be, yes.” While no specific date or runtime has been mentioned, the wording suggests plans are already in place behind the scenes.
Historically, State of Play presentations tend to lean heavily on third-party announcements, with a smaller selection of first-party updates sprinkled in. If February’s show follows that formula, Sony may use the spotlight to provide fresh looks at projects like Saros, Marvel’s Wolverine, and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls from its PlayStation Studios lineup.
There’s also growing speculation around Marathon, Bungie’s next major release. The extraction shooter is currently slated for a March 5, 2026 launch across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, making a February update feel well-timed.
Beyond that, several other first-party projects could potentially make an appearance, including an unannounced Firesprite title, the two Horizon MMO projects, whatever Media Molecule has been quietly working on, and Fairgames. That said, expectations should remain tempered. Recent history suggests State of Play events are no longer the massive, headline-heavy showcases Sony once held, instead offering a more focused mix of updates and reveals.
As always, until Sony officially confirms the broadcast, this should be treated as a report rather than a certainty. Still, if the claim proves accurate, PlayStation fans won’t have to wait much longer to see what the company has planned for the early part of 2026.
