Starfield PS5 Release Reportedly Locked for April 2026

Bethesda’s long-awaited space RPG may finally be charting a course to PlayStation. A new report claims that Starfield is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 in April 2026, with internal documentation pointing to a specific release date of April 7, 2026.

The report comes from PPE, which says it has obtained internal materials from a video game distributor listing Starfield for PS5 with that April release window. While Bethesda and Microsoft have yet to make anything official, PPE shared a screenshot of what appears to be an internal system entry showing the date, lending some weight to the claim.

If accurate, the PlayStation 5 release is expected to coincide with the long-rumoured “Starfield 2.0” update, which was previously shown behind closed doors to members of the press. Although the report stops short of confirming this outright, the timing lines up with ongoing speculation that Bethesda is planning a major relaunch-style update for the game.

Details on what Starfield 2.0 includes remain unclear, but rumours suggest it will deliver a significant overhaul to core systems, alongside the game’s second major expansion, reportedly titled Terran Armada. If true, this would position the PS5 launch as a more complete and reworked version of the game, rather than a straight port of the original 2023 release.

PPE’s track record adds an extra layer of intrigue. The outlet has previously proven reliable when it comes to leaking information tied to physical game releases and distribution, though it’s not flawless. Most recently, PPE incorrectly claimed that Grand Theft Auto VI would skip physical releases at launch something Take-Two Interactive publicly shut down during an earnings call. As such, this Starfield report should still be treated with caution.

It’s also unclear whether the widely rumoured Nintendo Switch 2 version of Starfield would launch alongside the PS5 release, or arrive at a later date. Microsoft has not commented on additional platforms beyond Xbox and PC.

Notably, XboxEra was the first outlet to report on a PlayStation 5 version of Starfield back in February 2024, suggesting that plans for a PS5 release have been in motion for quite some time.

Until Bethesda or Microsoft make an official announcement, none of this is set in stone. Still, with documentation allegedly pointing to a firm April 2026 date, the idea of Starfield finally breaking free of platform exclusivity is starting to feel more real than ever.
